Accrete, a leading enterprise AI software provider headquartered in Lower Manhattan, has appointed Mariah Smith as Director of Government Affairs for its government-facing subsidiary, Accrete AI Government. Mariah will be located in the Washington D.C office and report to Bill Wall, CEO of Accrete AI Government. Mariah will be responsible for building and maintaining the relationships with local, state, and federal entities in support of the programs and goals of Accrete and nested with the national AI development and governance strategy.
Bill Wall said, “Mariah is a dynamic individual who has a strong background working on Capitol Hill to coordinate policy, legislation, and appropriations with both the Senate and the House of Representatives. She has a deep understanding of Congressional processes and the inner workings of the many committees and staff that formulate policy. Her knowledge will enable Accrete to participate in vital industry and government discussions on Artificial Intelligence ethics and standards. With Mariah on the team, we look forward to Accrete having a positive impact on artificial intelligence policy and legislation during this transformational time for the AI industry."
Mariah brings with her over 20 years of defense, legislative, and policy experience. Most recently serving as a Congressional Analyst for the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC), known as DEVCOM. Prior to that, she held positions as a liaison between the Armed Services Committees and the United States Central Command, between the Army and the Appropriations Committees, with NATO in Afghanistan, and as Congressman Steve Israel’s military legislative assistant. Mariah has a passion for technology modernization and development strategies that support national security goals and help maintain the United States’ competitive edge. Mariah is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and acquired an M.A. in Security Management from Webster University. In her free time, she serves on the Board of Directors for the 501c3 organization ‘No One Left Behind’ which assists Afghans who served with the US military. She is also a councilwoman for her hometown of Stephens City, Virginia.
